Indian Ocean - abstract photo-graphic play

ree

I took a lot of photos I really love (and have yet to share) during the many months I spent backpacking through Southeast Asia (2016-2017). Most of them portray the breathtaking beauty of the regions I was fortunate to pass through, and some are all about the every-day life of the locals there (also beautiful in many ways), but a few have actually become great bases for some fun photo-graphics pieces. This is one of them.

The photograph I used to create this piece was of a sunset over the Indian Ocean, captured from the southern coast of Bali, Indonesia, in 2016, and despite the generally stunning views over there, this one in itself wasn't actually that impressive. However, just as I was about to delete this photo, something about it inspired me to give it a chance as something more than a "regular" photograph. And, after a little playtime, I managed to create this slightly abstract piece that I actually really like.

It also happened to perfectly match the color scheme of my Mom's kitchen I had designed a few years back. Yes, it's a slightly unconventional blue kitchen, but it worked for the space, and that piece fit right in there. I still need to make a frame for it, but I’m glad it's finally up, even as it is.
