A good-bye letter to 2020.

December 31st, 2020
2020, thank you for all the goodness that you brought along over the last 12 months.
Thank you for all the solitary walks and for all the staycation day trips.
Thank you for all the beautiful sunsets, for all the gorgeous night skies, for showing us the Neowise Comet and the Jupiter & Saturn conjunction.
Thank you for all the wonderful babies that have been born this year.
Thank you for all the love that's grown stronger this year, and for all the love that's faded away to make room for something better.
Thank you for the technology of today that has allowed so many of us to work from home.. study from home.. and socialize long-distance like never before.
Thank you for everyone who's risked their lives showing up and doing their jobs, be it for everyone else's health, safety or convenience.
Thank you for the few not-totally-awful things that happened in politics.
Thank you for bringing us closer together, in so many ways, for so many important causes.
Thank you for all the lessons, however harsh they have been.
Thank you for all the strength we have been able to tap into.
Thank you for all the reflections, realizations and actions you have prompted in us, be it on a personal or a global level.
Thank you for all the creativity you inspired.
2020, you certainly have not been kind, but thank you for not being any meaner.
Thank you, really, from the bottom of my heart, and now: goodbye
Please forgive me if I don't stay up to see you go.
